As a boy, Ru Ardo's imaginative childhood day dreams traveled him to exotic places, and Africa was his favorite. He dreamed of animals, safaris, and connecting to a nature he had only seen on his television screen, one that screamed out to him, to which he, even at a young age, related to. His interest in the exotic continued as he grew, and as his studies of a life outside of his New York City apartment made him more familiar with the nature and wonders of foreign continents, his intent to visit also grew. Years of interest and study resulted in pencil sketches of the foreign lands gained him praise in high school, and encouraged him to attend the New York Academy of Art. Subsequent to his studies, Ru Ardo finally reached Africa, and his inspiration for his art pieces of the region reflect his passion and the beauty he sees in the animals and nature of exotic lands. His visions are both realistic and abstract, taking in the world and interpreting it one brushstroke at a time.
