Gilles Martin-Raget was born April 9, 1955 in Arles, France. A training cruise during school in Montpellier sparked his passion for sailing. Gilles first covered the America's Cup in 1983, where received his first notable publications for documenting the yachting victory of Australia II. He continued to photograph the America's Cup as a correspondent for major media outlets or as an official photographer for competing teams. In 2010, Gilles documented the BMW ORACLE Racing Team's victory at the 33rd America's Cup. He is also honored as the official photographer for the 34th America's Cup, which will race in San Francisco in 2013.
