Our Taru Daybed packs in ultimate function, while maintaining the crispness of a fully ecological construction.  Lauan (a.k.a. Philippine Mahogany) and Gmelina hardwoods are handcrafted to create continuity in the frame as they extend into a removable canopy structure.  The frame boasts a finish of deep vintage espresso that highlights the hand-woven cane made of durable yet flexible Rattan strips.  The trundle drawer effortlessly blends into the complete design of the bed with matching hardwood and a hand-woven cane face.  The natural beauty of this bed stems from 100% sustainable and renewable resources.

Canopy structure is completely removable.  Finials cap the arms and back when canopy is not in use.
  • Constructed from Lauan (also know as Philippine Mahogany) and Gmelina woods. Lauan is a renewably harvested, indigenous hardwood to the Philippines. Gmelina is a beautiful, plantation grown and fast replenishing hardwood that occurs naturally throughout the world in moist fertile valleys.
  • The hand woven cane is made of strips of rattan. Rattan is a fast growing indigenous vine that is durable, lightweight and flexible.In the forests where rattan grows, its economic value can help protect forest land, by providing an alternative to loggers who forgo timber logging and harvest rattan canes instead.
  • The carved bamboo detailing throughout the frame is all hand carved by artisans.
  • Beautiful and rich stained finish in a deep vintage espresso color, applied by hand in a 15-step process that ensures clarity and depth.
  • Trundle drawer is constructed of Lauan, Gmelina and engineered hardwood with a hand-woven cane face.  It rolls easily along the floor on wheels
  • Plastic glides protect floors.
  • Simple assembly is required.
  • Clean with a dry, dust free cloth.  As with all fine furniture, keep out of direct sunlight and protect surfaces from heat and moisture.
