Naomi McCavitt was born in Richmond VA in 1980 and began making art work shortly thereafter. As a child she would cut up and otherwise alter her books to form new objects. Her work is not so different now, as she uses historical resources in mash-up narrative paintings, prints, drawings and installations. These works have been shown in galleries throughout the U.S. Naomi received her BFA in painting from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002 and her MFA from The San Francisco Art Institute in 2008. She is currently teaching in the Art Foundation program at V.C.U.
